Job Description
Associate General Dentist – Comprehensive & Integrative Dentistry
Are you a general dentist who wants to do more than simply “drill and fill”?
Cape Fear Smiles is looking for a General Dentist who enjoys comprehensive care, prevention, patient education, and continued clinical growth.
Previous integrative or comprehensive dentistry experience is NOT required.
We're happy to teach the right dentist.
If you're a strong general dentist who is curious about airway, sleep, TMJ, the oral-systemic connection, advanced healing, or more comprehensive approaches to dentistry, this may be an opportunity to expand your skills while continuing to practice excellent general dentistry.
Why Cape Fear Smiles?
Cape Fear Smiles is an established private practice in beautiful Wilmington, North Carolina. We believe excellent dentistry starts with understanding the entire patient—not simply treating one tooth at a time.
Our doctors have the opportunity to provide traditional comprehensive dentistry while also being exposed to areas such as:
Comprehensive restorative dentistry
Ceramic/zirconia dental implants
Airway and sleep dentistry
TMJ evaluation and treatment
Laser dentistry
PRF and advanced surgical healing
Ozone therapy
SMART mercury amalgam removal
Preventive and minimally invasive dentistry
Oral-systemic health
Our practice is equipped with advanced technology, and we invest heavily in continuing education and clinical development.
You do not need to know how to do all of this.
We're looking for a dentist who wants to learn.
Who Would Be a Great Fit?
You may be a great fit if you:
Enjoy comprehensive general dentistry
Want to understand why patients develop disease—not just repair the damage
Value prevention and patient education
Enjoy building long-term relationships with patients
Are curious about airway, sleep, TMJ, nutrition, or oral-systemic health
Want to continue developing clinically
Appreciate mentorship and collaboration
Want to work in a private-practice environment where doctors have the opportunity to think beyond insurance-driven dentistry
Whether you're already practicing integrative dentistry or have simply found yourself thinking, “There has to be more to dentistry than treating the same problems over and over again,” we'd like to talk with you.
What You'll Do
You'll provide high-quality comprehensive general dentistry, including diagnosis, treatment planning, restorative care, and patient education.
You'll also have opportunities to collaborate on more advanced and interdisciplinary cases and gradually incorporate additional procedures and integrative techniques based on your interests, training, and comfort level.
You will not be expected to arrive already trained in integrative dentistry. Mentorship and support are available.
Qualifications
DDS or DMD from an accredited dental school
Eligible for or currently holding a North Carolina dental license
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Commitment to ethical, patient-centered care
Desire to continue learning and growing clinically
SMART certification or previous integrative/biological dentistry experience is a plus, but not required.
Why Wilmington?
Wilmington offers a unique combination of coastal living and a vibrant, growing community. Enjoy beaches, boating, outdoor activities, restaurants, and a relaxed coastal lifestyle while building your career in an established private practice.
Let's Talk
You don't need to be an “integrative or comprehensive dentist” to apply.
You simply need to be a good dentist who is curious, compassionate, clinically motivated, and interested in looking at dentistry a little differently.
If that sounds like you, we'd love to meet you.
