Job Description

We are currently seeking part time Bilingual Dental Assistant Instructor (Saturdays only) at our Spring TX location.

Job Summary:
The philosophy of Houston Dental Assistant School is based on the belief that people can be trained in a relatively short period of time to enter the world of professional dental assisting. We believe that our course will prepare motivated individuals for their first job and education coupled with experience is the best teacher.

Our purpose is to equip each student with the basic skills necessary to enter the workplace and begin to gather experience. We feel that our years in the profession best qualify us to teach these skills and impart the experiences we have discovered along the way.

Anticipated Schedule:
Saturday hours of operation will be between 7:30 AM. and 12:30 PM. We operate 40 Saturdays each year, but don't require our instructors to teach every Saturday.

Essential Job Functions:
Facilitate Learning and Demonstrate Basic Skills. Perform direct teaching and demonstration of Dental Assistant skills using hands-on learning in the classroom, laboratory, and the operatory.

Student Support and Guidance. Advise and support students as a mentor and role model in the achievement of their goals. Contribute by openly sharing your knowledge and skills with students.

Classroom Management. Fulfill assigned schedule, maintain a professional and fun instructional environment and ensure opportunities for student participant and evaluation.

Interpersonal/Team Skills. Participate in activities of the instructional team, including planning, as a professional team player supportive of the Houston Dental Assistant School philosophy. Offer suggestions to the instructional team during the morning meeting.

Administrative. Ensures adherence to established Houston Dental Assistant School policies and procedures, objectives, quality, safety standards, maintain good housekeeping practices, and perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge:
Demonstrate knowledge and instruct students in the use and care of a range of sophisticated patient care equipment and practices by following the course outline which includes:
Introduction to Dentistry, Dental Assisting, Structures of the Head and Neck, Dental Anatomy and Tooth Morphology
Disease Transmission and Pathology, Infection Control, Hazards management, Emergencies
Dental Operatory, Dental Hand Instruments, Rotary Instruments, Oral Evacuation and Instrument Transfer
Dental Exam, Dental Radiography
Alginate Impressions and Diagnostic Casts, Pharmacology and Pain Control, Rubber Dam, Dental Cements
Amalgam Restorations, Cosmetic Restorations, Crown and Bridge Restorations Complete and Partial Removable Dentures, Pediatric Dentistry
Periodontics, Endodontics, Oral Surgery
Texas State Radiology Exam Review
Qualifications:
Working experience of 5 years or more as Dental Assistant or Dental Hygienist.

Meet Texas Workforce Commission instructor certification requirements.

RDA and CPR certification.

Fluent in Spanish
