Job Description
Medical Office Receptionist - Cardiology Practice (Torrance, CA)
We're a busy, well-established cardiology practice in the South Bay looking for an experienced Medical Office Receptionist. You'll be the first person patients and providers meet, keeping the front office organized, accurate, and welcoming.
What you'll do
Welcome patients and visitors, handle check-in and check-out, and keep the schedule running smoothly
Book office visits and procedures in our practice management and EMR systems (AdvancedMD, Athelas Insights)
Verify insurance eligibility, including Medicare and commercial plans
Answer phones, respond to patient questions, and relay information accurately between patients and clinical staff
Enter and update patient information, and keep records organized and complete
Protect patient privacy and follow HIPAA at all times
Prepare routine correspondence and reports using Microsoft Office
Work closely with the clinical and billing teams to keep the office on track
What we offer
Pay: $[X]-$[Y] per hour, depending on experience
Four-day, 40-hour schedule (Mon-Thu, 10-hour days)
Most major holidays off, plus the week of Dec 24-Jan 1
Medical and dental insurance stipend for full-time employees after 12 weeks
A friendly, high-quality cardiology practice in a beautiful office, minutes from the South Bay beaches
No HMO patients
Required (please apply only if you meet all of these)
At least 3 years of receptionist experience in a medical office
Strong phone presence, including staying calm with multiple incoming calls
Excellent English communication: spelling, grammar, reading, and clear speech
Working knowledge of medical terminology and spelling
Typing speed of 35 WPM with minimal errors
Strong attention to detail, including double-checking schedule entries
Good basic math skills
Organized, self-directed, and able to multitask in a fast-paced setting
Professional, polished appearance consistent with our dress standards
Integrity and dependability
Nice to have (we'll train you)
