Job Description
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and patient-focused Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our growing dental team. The ideal candidate is licensed as an EFDA in the State of Indiana, has experience with Dentrix Practice Management Software, and thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. This position plays a key role in providing exceptional patient care while supporting the dentist in delivering high-quality clinical treatment.
Responsibilities
Prepare treatment rooms and patients for dental procedures.
Assist the dentist during a variety of restorative and surgical procedures.
Perform expanded functions as permitted under Indiana EFDA regulations, including:
Placing, carving, and finishing restorative materials.
Taking final impressions and bite registrations.
Use of scanners ie Dandy or itero
Removing temporary restorations and placing temporary crowns.
Coronal polishing and fluoride application (as certified).
Fabricating and cementing temporary crowns (as permitted).
Take high-quality digital radiographs.
Utilize Dentrix to:
Chart treatment and clinical notes.
Update patient records.
Review treatment plans and scheduling.
Verify completed procedures.
Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-operative care.
Maintain sterilization protocols and OSHA compliance.
Ensure operatories are stocked and equipment is functioning properly.
Assist with same-day treatment opportunities and support production goals.
Collaborate with doctors, hygienists, and front office staff to create an exceptional patient experience.
Qualifications
Current Indiana EFDA Certification required.
Current Dental Radiography License (Indiana).
Current CPR/BLS Certification.
Minimum of 1 year of EFDA experience preferred.
Dentrix experience required.
Strong understanding of infection control and OSHA standards.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Positive attitude with a strong team-first mentality.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with digital scanners and intraoral cameras.
Knowledge of insurance coding and treatment planning.
Experience working toward daily production and patient care goals.
Comfortable assisting with multiple providers.
