Job Overview

Responsibilities
Prepare treatment rooms with dental instruments, supplies, and equipment, ensuring proper sterilization and infection prevention management according to dental sterilization procedures.
Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry with four-handed dentistry techniques.
Take and develop dental x-rays and medical imaging such as 3D scans, adhering to dental x-ray safety protocols and radiation safety standards.
Manage patient management software systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, and other EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems to accurately document medical records, treatment plans, and medical coding.
Perform chairside assisting by taking vital signs, explaining procedures to patients using dental terminology, and providing patient care that ensures comfort and confidence throughout their visit.
Process dental instruments and materials efficiently while maintaining strict adherence to infection control policies in accordance with healthcare infection prevention and control expertise.
Support the dental reception area by managing appointment scheduling, patient check-in/out processes, and maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
Ensure all dental equipment is functioning correctly; assist with dental instrument processing and sterilization to uphold the highest standards of aseptic technique.
Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care instructions, and preventive measures tailored for pediatric dentistry when applicable.
Experience
Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with familiarity in general dentistry procedures.
Hands-on experience with dental x-ray technology and medical imaging tools such as 3D scanners preferred.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge relevant to oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatrics.
Proficiency in using patient management software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix along with EMR systems for accurate documentation.
Demonstrated ability to follow clinical confidentiality policies while managing sensitive medical records and documentation.
Knowledge of infection prevention management practices including sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques essential for maintaining a safe clinical environment.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within a healthcare team specializing in pediatric dentistry or general dentistry settings.
