Job Summary:
The Medical Assistant is an integral member of the healthcare team, providing comprehensive clinical, administrative, and organizational support to physicians and other care providers to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care. This role is responsible for preparing patients for examinations, rooming patients, collecting vital signs, performing point-of-care testing, documenting patient information in the electronic health record (EHR), and maintaining efficient clinic flow.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate patient flow by rooming patients, preparing them for examinations and procedures, obtaining medical histories and vital signs, performing screenings, collecting specimens, administering point-of-care testing, and accurately documenting care in the electronic health record (EHR).

Perform clinical procedures within the Medical Assistant scope of practice, including phlebotomy, EKGs, pulmonary function testing, ankle-brachial index (ABI) testing, ear lavages, vaccine administration, and other diagnostic or therapeutic procedures as applicable.

Assist providers during examinations and procedures while ensuring patient comfort, safety, and high-quality clinical care.

Educate patients and families regarding medications, treatments, procedures, follow-up care, and preventive health measures as directed by the provider.

Respond promptly and professionally to patient phone calls, electronic messages, and other communications, addressing questions appropriately and escalating clinical concerns when necessary.

Perform administrative and clerical duties, including verifying patient demographics and insurance information, maintaining accurate patient records, processing prior authorizations, forms, laboratory requisitions, and other clinical documentation.

Prepare, clean, disinfect, sterilize, and maintain examination rooms, instruments, and equipment in accordance with infection prevention and control standards.

Promote patient safety, privacy, dignity, and rights by maintaining confidentiality and adhering to organizational policies and regulatory requirements.

Communicate effectively and collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary team members to ensure efficient clinic operations and continuity of patient care.

Recognize and respond appropriately to urgent or emergency situations within the Medical Assistant scope of practice.

Maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, and organizational regulations and standards, including HIPAA, OSHA, CLIA, and BOLI requirements.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
Current Medical Assistant certification
Current CPR certification
Preferred Qualifications:
LXMO certification
Bilingual
Previous experience utilizing Epic

Base Pay: $22.50 - $27.00 per hour
