Job Description

Annual salary for this role is dependent on experience: $160,133.14 - $173,858.83 base salary plus $12,500 clinical director differential and incentive plan of 4% - 14% of specialty annual median compensation.

Job Summary

The Clinical Director, while performing job specific functions of respective dentist position, supervises the day-to-day clinical activities of all dental provider staff. Such supervision must be in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern the clinic, and as may be required by the Chief Dental Officer to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained. The Director coordinates patient care with the Practice Manager to provide maximum clinic efficiencies. This position provides management and supervision to designated staff.

Preferred:

Bilingual skills.

Education

Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD).

Preferred:

Completion of an American Dental Association (ADA) accredited residency program - Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) or General Practice Residency (GPR).

Formal education and training in leadership and management.

Experience

Experience as a practicing dentist (3 years).

Preferred:

Supervisory/management experience (2 years).

Customer service-related experience working with the general public (2 years).

Work experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center or other not-for-profit healthcare organization (2 years).

Digital imaging familiarity.

Healthcare information systems, such as electronic health record and practice management systems experience.

Experience working in healthcare delivery to low income, multi-ethnic populations.

Experience leading process improvement and quality improvement/assurance in clinical setting.

Credentials

Dentist license with the State of Washington.

DEA controlled substances registration certificate.

Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (CPR/AED) certification - must be obtained at hire.

Verified immunity to measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), and varicella (chickenpox). Immunity may be demonstrated through vaccination records or titer results. Medical or religious accommodation requests may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Successful completion of CHC’s credentialing and privileging review upon hire and recredentialing as appropriate.

Job Specific Functions/Performance:

Communication – Consistently and effectively communicates organizational goals, values and key messages, ensuring a seamless and unified flow of information throughout the entire team; actively participates in and leads relevant clinical and operational meetings to support regular and transparent communication across the clinical team.

Clinic Management – Support and direct the clinical and programmatic components of the CHC dental division at the clinic level, in a manner that meets continuous performance improvement, customer service, programmatic growth, and financial requirements that support the mission of CHC.

Clinic Performance - Collaborates with the leadership team to develop and implement annual operational plans for the clinic, including regular report outs and clinic reviews.

Operational Performance – Works in collaboration with the Chief Dental Officer, Clinic Practice Manager, and other clinical and operational leaders to oversee all functions related to clinical services, including but not limited to providing, monitoring, and maintaining the highest degree of quality clinical care, patient/provider experience, and operational excellence and providing overall direction, integration, and coordination of dental services at assigned clinic.

Provider Development and Performance Management - Manages provider performance issues and professional development within their designated clinic; supports and provides oversight of continuing education and training programs; responsible for provider site orientation, onboarding, and performance evaluation.

Quality and Process Improvement - Participates in Quality Improvement and Utilization Management programs and activities, in collaboration with the organization’s quality improvement program; leads clinical, operational, and quality improvement activities at assigned clinic.

Informatics/IT Enablement - Serves as a role model and coach to the providers at assigned clinic and ensures providers are regularly trained in the most efficient ways of using the EHR/EDR. Supports IT/EHR-related enablement/improvement efforts.

Strategy – Collaborates with members of the clinical and operational leadership team to assure achievement of business and strategic goals, objectives, and initiatives of the Organization.

Data Analysis - Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates financial and statistical information and productivity reports for assigned clinic with clinical and operational leaders and makes the necessary adjustments as appropriate. Prepares and distributes data and/or reports and presentations to appropriate recipients and audiences

Budget - Works with Dental and Operational leadership to support administration of clinic budgets and ensure they are used as an effective management tool.

Collaborates as a dyad partner with the clinic practice manager to assure the services of CHC are provided to patients on a daily basis and in accordance with CHC standards.

Participates in identifying and resolving day-to-day operational issues and solutions in collaboration with the site leadership team.

Connects regularly with the Chief Dental Officer to identify and resolve needs of clinic and provider.

Attendance - Adheres to attendance standards in order to perform the job functions of this role.
