Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and versatile Crossed Trained Dental Assistant to join our vibrant dental team! As a Crossed Trained Dental Assistant, you will provide chairside assistance, manage clinical procedures, and support administrative functions, all while adhering to strict infection prevention and confidentiality policies. Duties
Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and more.
Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly in accordance with dental sterilization procedures.
Take and develop dental x-rays and medical imaging, including 3D scans when applicable, following proper radiation safety protocols.
Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Epic, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Perform vital signs assessments and document medical histories to support comprehensive patient care.
Support front desk operations by acting as a dental receptionist when needed—scheduling appointments, verifying insurance details, and managing patient flow smoothly.
Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive medical documentation and records with integrity.
Follow infection prevention management practices to uphold the highest standards of healthcare infection control and aseptic technique within the clinic environment.
Assist with dental instrument processing, sterilization procedures, and inventory management to ensure all tools are ready for use at all times.
Collaborate seamlessly in four-handed dentistry setups to enhance efficiency during patient treatments.
Skills
Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for accurate documentation and scheduling.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry.
Experience with dental x-ray techniques and medical imaging equipment including 3D scanners.
Familiarity with infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and healthcare infection prevention standards.
Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently across multiple specialties including pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and general dentistry.
Excellent communication skills as a dental receptionist—friendly demeanor combined with organizational expertise.
Understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy is maintained at all times.
Knowledge of dental sterilization procedures and infection prevention management practices.
Ability to handle medical coding accurately for billing purposes while maintaining compliance with healthcare documentation standards.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and clinical confidentiality policies.
