Job Description
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will support the clinical team by providing exceptional patient care and ensuring smooth daily operations within the dental office.
Duties
1. Greeting Patients: Warmly welcome patients as they arrive at the dental office, ensure a positive and friendly experience from the moment they enter.
2. Appointment Scheduling: Efficiently schedule and confirm patient appointments, managing the office calendar to maximize efficiency and minimize wait times. Perform recall appointment calls to promote preventive care and planned appointment calls to ensure treatment continuity.
3. Patient Registration: Accurately collect, verify and record patient information, including personal details, medical history, and insurance coverage, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations.
4. Insurance Verification: Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility, process insurance claims, and assist patients with insurance-related inquiries. Cross trained on recording Insurance payments.
5. Billing and Payment Processing: Handle billing inquiries, process payments, and assist patients with understanding their financial responsibilities.
6. Answering Phones: Professionally and courteously answer incoming calls, triage inquiries, and direct calls to the appropriate staff members.
7. Emails: Managing incoming emails and submissions for service. Responding promptly and professionally and taking action where appropriate.
8. Maintaining Patient Records: Organize and maintain electronic and paper patient records, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality and compliance with regulatory compliance.
9. Office Administration: Assist with various administrative tasks, such as ordering office supplies, managing inventory, and maintaining a clean and organized reception area.
10. Communication Liaison: Serve as a liaison between patients, dental staff and external parties, facilitating clear and effective communication to ensure smooth operations.
Skills
- Previous experience in dental or medical office setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Bilingual
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
- Proficient in computer systems and dental office software
- Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and insurance protocols
- Attention to detail and dedicated and committed work ethic
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion
- Customer service-oriented mindset with a passion for helping others
This position operates in a dental office environment. The role may require standing or sitting for extended period and occasional lifting of light objects. Flexibility in working hours may be necessary to accommodate patient appointments and office needs.
