LSU Health New Orleans School of Dentistry, Department of Comprehensive Dentistry, is seeking two motivated applicants for the position of Dental Assistant 1 or Dental Assistant 2.
Minimum Qualifications
No experience or training required.

Job Duties and Other Information
Duties and responsibilities included, but not limited to:
Assist dentists and dental students with chair side treatment of patients.
Maintain and stock cabinet
Instruct and evaluate students in proper four-handed dentistry techniques
Chart patients according to LSUSD systems (Axium Computer knowledge)
Give fluoride treatments as directed by dentist or student
Give follow-up home instructions as directed by dentist or student
Place rubber dam and directed by dentist or student
Remove cement supragingivally from dental restorations and fixed restorations
Knowledgeable of computers.
The candidate applying should possess the following Core Competencies:
Communicating effectively: Effectively The ability to convey information, ideas, and emotions using structured communication methods that promote understanding and engagement.
Focusing on Customers: The ability to understand and meet the needs, preferences, and experiences of internal and external customers.
Following Policies and Procedures: The ability to follow, reinforce, adapt, or develop policies and procedures to maintain compliance with federal and state legal requirements, State Civil Service rules, and organizational policies.
Appointment Type: Classified Appointment
Career Progression: This position is part of the career progression group may be filled as a Dental Assistant 1 or 2.
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday; 8:30 AM–5:00 PM
Work Location: 1100 Florida Ave, New Orleans, LA 70119
Compensation:
There is a Special Entrance Rate (SER) of
$15.05 per hour for Dental Assistant 2 title
$14.06 for Dental Assistant 1 title
Additional compensation
$1.00 Longevity Pay for hours worked only.
$2.25 per hour worked available for candidates that hold a current DANB (Dental Assisting National Board) certification.
$1.50 for EDDA certification (Expanded Dental Duty Dental Assistant).
