Overview

Duties
Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, and prosthodontics.
Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and equipment according to infection prevention management protocols.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray) using dental x-ray equipment and 3D scanners, ensuring accurate imaging for diagnosis.
Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic, ensuring all documentation complies with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies.
Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
Monitor vital signs and assist in medical documentation for patients with special needs or pediatric cases.
Process dental instruments following sterilization procedures while adhering to infection control standards and aseptic techniques.
Support patient management by providing pre-appointment instructions, answering questions about procedures, and assisting with patient care throughout their visit.
Experience
Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred, especially with general dentistry, pediatrics, or oral surgery environments.
Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and medical coding is essential for accurate documentation.
Familiarity with dental equipment including X-ray machines, digital imaging tools, and 3D scanners enhances your ability to support clinical operations effectively.
Knowledge of dental assisting best practices such as infection prevention management, dental sterilization procedures, and aseptic technique is crucial.
Experience with patient management software like Dentrix or Eaglesoft will facilitate seamless recordkeeping and appointment scheduling.
Ability to demonstrate excellent communication skills for interacting with patients of all ages while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
