Duties
Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and ready for use following strict infection control protocols.
Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans, while maintaining proper safety measures and adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
Manage electronic medical records using EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic to document treatment details accurately and efficiently.
Support patients by explaining procedures, taking vital signs, and ensuring their comfort throughout visits.
Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment by following aseptic techniques and infection control standards.
Collaborate with the dental team as a four-handed dentistry partner to enhance efficiency during procedures.
Assist with medical documentation and coding related to dental procedures to ensure accurate recordkeeping and billing.
Support the dental receptionist in scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and handling administrative duties related to medical records.
Requirements
Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of general dentistry practices.
Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, taking X-rays, and vital signs measurement.
Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation.
Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
Ability to perform medical imaging procedures including X-ray and 3D scanning with precision and safety awareness.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
Experience supporting pediatric dentistry is highly desirable; familiarity with pediatric-specific procedures is a plus.
