Overview

Responsibilities
Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry with precision and professionalism.
Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental equipment, and ensuring all necessary supplies are ready for patient care.
Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced medical imaging technology such as 3D scanners and dental X-ray machines while adhering to HIPAA and infection prevention policies.
Manage patient records efficiently using electronic medical records (EMR) systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic to ensure accurate documentation of medical history, treatment plans, and billing information.
Provide excellent patient care by explaining procedures, answering questions, taking vital signs, and assisting with patient management software to streamline check-in/check-out processes.
Follow strict infection control protocols including dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques to maintain a safe clinical environment.
Support administrative duties such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist and managing medical documentation in compliance with clinical confidentiality policies.
Skills
Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, dental instrument processing, and four-handed dentistry.
Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and general dentistry procedures to effectively support clinical teams.
Experience operating dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other diagnostic tools with precision.
Familiarity with healthcare infection prevention and control practices including dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques.
Ability to navigate patient management software like Dentrix or Eaglesoft confidently for scheduling and record keeping.
Strong understanding of medical terminology related to oral health, pediatrics, endodontics, prosthodontics, and oral surgery.
Excellent communication skills to collaborate with team members including dental receptionists and healthcare professionals while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
