Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our reputable dental practice. The ideal candidate will support the clinical team by providing exceptional patient care, ensuring efficient workflow, and maintaining the highest standards of infection control and safety. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment that values professionalism, teamwork, and continuous learning. Prior experience with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic is preferred, along with a solid understanding of dental terminology and procedures. Knowledge of pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and general dentistry will be considered advantageous. The Dental Assistant will play a vital role in facilitating smooth patient experiences from chairside assisting to medical documentation.
Duties
Assist dentists during various procedures including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and pediatric treatments
Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and setting up necessary supplies using aseptic techniques
Take and develop dental X-rays while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy
Record vital signs and medical history accurately in electronic health records (EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix)
Provide chairside assistance with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort
Operate dental imaging equipment including 3D scanners and medical imaging devices
Maintain infection control standards by following OSHA guidelines and proper sterilization procedures
Educate patients on oral health care, post-treatment instructions, and preventive measures
Manage medical documentation and records with precision, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other regulations
Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist when needed
Assist with medical coding for billing purposes related to dental procedures
Skills
Proficiency in EMR systems like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic; experience with medical documentation is a plus
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques
Experience with X-ray procedures, 3D scanners, and medical imaging technology
Familiarity with pediatric dentistry concepts and treatments for children (pediatrics)
Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently during various dental procedures including endodontics and prosthodontics
Understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times
Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively about oral health care
Ability to work well within a team environment in a fast-paced dental clinic setting
