Job Description
Overview

Duties
Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, using four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize workflow.
Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, materials, and sterilized equipment following aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
Take and develop dental X-rays and medical imaging such as 3D scans, ensuring proper technique and patient comfort while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations for medical documentation and records.
Manage patient intake by recording vital signs, medical history, and current medications; update electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix accurately.
Provide chairside assistance by handling dental terminology efficiently, passing instruments swiftly, and supporting the dentist throughout procedures.
Educate patients on post-treatment care, oral hygiene practices, and treatment plans to foster understanding and compliance.
Support administrative tasks including scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist, managing medical coding for billing purposes, and maintaining organized medical records in Epic or similar systems.
Experience
Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with a solid understanding of general dentistry procedures.
Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly preferred; experience with Epic or other medical documentation platforms is a plus.
Knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic techniques, anatomy knowledge related to oral structures, and proper use of dental imaging equipment.
Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely while adhering to HIPAA guidelines for patient privacy.
Strong understanding of dental terminology across specialties including prosthodontics, endodontics, pediatrics, and medical terminology relevant to dental care.
Experience supporting pediatric dentistry is advantageous; certification in radiography or dental assisting is preferred but not required.
Excellent communication skills combined with the ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments supporting general dentistry practices.
