Job Description
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Dental Assistant to join our team. As a Dental Assistant, you will work closely with the dentist and dental hygienists to provide quality oral healthcare to our patients. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting with dental procedures, taking medical documentation, and ensuring a comfortable and efficient experience for our patients.
Duties:
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, ensuring all necessary instruments and supplies are readily available
- Assist the dentist during dental procedures, handing them instruments and materials as needed
- Take dental x-rays and intraoral images
- Perform dental charting and maintain accurate patient records using electronic health record systems
- Provide chairside assistance to the dentist during procedures, including suctioning, retracting tissues, and applying topical anesthetics
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-operative care instructions
- Sterilize and disinfect dental instruments and equipment in accordance with infection control protocols
- Schedule patient appointments and manage the dental office's appointment calendar
- Assist with dental receptionist duties as needed, including answering phone calls, greeting patients, and verifying insurance information
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times
Skills:
- Proficient in medical documentation and record keeping
- Knowledge of medical imaging techniques for dental procedures
- Experience in dental assisting, including familiarity with various dental instruments and materials
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with patients and team members
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of dental receptionist duties is beneficial
