Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in dental assisting, with expertise in chairside support, patient care, and administrative tasks. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to comprehensive dental services, including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics, while ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for patients. The Dental Assistant will play a vital role in supporting dentists and hygienists to deliver exceptional oral healthcare.
Duties
Assist dentists during various procedures by preparing treatment rooms, sterilizing instruments, and providing chairside support using aseptic techniques.
Take and develop dental X-rays accurately while maintaining strict adherence to infection control protocols and HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
Manage patient records within electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, treatment plans, and medical coding.
Prepare patients for examinations by taking vital signs, reviewing medical histories, and explaining procedures clearly using appropriate dental terminology.
Support administrative functions including scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist, verifying insurance information, and managing medical documentation efficiently.
Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment by following infection control standards and ensuring all equipment is properly sterilized.
Assist with specialized procedures in pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, or other specialties as needed using advanced tools such as 3D scanners or medical imaging devices.
Educate patients on oral health practices and post-treatment care to promote ongoing dental health.
Skills
Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside support, X-ray processing, and aseptic procedures.
Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
Strong understanding of dental terminology related to general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics.
Ability to operate diagnostic equipment such as 3D scanners and medical imaging devices effectively.
Excellent communication skills to interact professionally with patients of all ages and backgrounds.
