Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will support the clinical team by providing exceptional chairside assistance, managing patient care, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, utilizing advanced dental technology and maintaining high standards of infection control and patient confidentiality. Prior experience with EMR systems such as Open Dental is preferred, along with knowledge of HIPAA regulations and dental terminology. The Dental Assistant will play a vital role in delivering comprehensive dental care across various specialties including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
Responsibilities
Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including restorations, extractions, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric treatments
Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available
Take and develop dental X-rays while adhering to proper aseptic techniques and radiation safety protocols
Record vital signs and medical history accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Open Dental.
Manage medical imaging documentation and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality
Perform chairside assisting using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort
Educate patients on oral health care instructions and post-treatment care
Maintain infection control standards by following proper sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques
Assist with medical documentation, coding, and record keeping using dental software platforms like open dental
Support the dental reception team by managing patient flow, scheduling appointments, and handling administrative tasks related to medical recordsExperience
Previous experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred
Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic is advantageous
Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical imaging, and infection control protocols is essential
Experience with pediatric dentistry procedures is a plus
Certification in X-ray technology for intraoral and extraoral imaging required or willingness to obtain certification upon hire
Strong understanding of HIPAA compliance and medical documentation standards
Proven ability to perform chairside assisting in general dentistry as well as specialized fields like prosthodontics or endodontics is desirable
