Job Description:
We are a patient-focused general dental practice committed to providing high-quality, comprehensive dental care in a welcoming and professional environment. We are seeking a motivated, dependable Dental Assistant to join our team and support our dentists in delivering exceptional patient care.
The Dental Assistant will work closely with the dentist and clinical team to ensure efficient patient flow, assist during dental procedures, maintain treatment rooms, and provide excellent patient experiences. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about helping patients achieve optimal oral health.
Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
Prepare treatment rooms and dental instruments for patient procedures.
Assist the dentist during general dentistry procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) in accordance with state regulations.
Prepare and sterilize instruments and maintain infection control protocols.
Set up and break down operatories between patients.
Assist with restorative procedures including fillings, crowns, bridges, and veneers.
Assist with extractions and other minor surgical procedures.
Assist during root canal therapy and other endodontic procedures.
Take impressions, bite registrations, and study models as permitted by state regulations.
Fabricate and adjust temporary crowns as directed by the dentist.
Provide chairside support during hygiene and restorative appointments.
Maintain accurate clinical records and charting.
Monitor and replenish clinical supplies and inventory.
Patient Care Duties
Welcome and prepare patients for treatment.
Review medical histories and update patient records.
Explain treatment procedures and post-operative instructions.
Ensure patient comfort before, during, and after treatment.
Educate patients on oral hygiene and preventive care.
Answer patient questions and address concerns professionally.
Administrative Support
Assist with appointment scheduling as needed.
Coordinate treatment plans and follow-up appointments.
Communicate effectively with patients regarding treatment and care instructions.
Support front office staff when necessary.
Qualifications
Dental Assistant certification and/or registration as required by state regulations.
Current radiology/x-ray certification.
CPR certification.
Previous experience in a general dentistry practice preferred.
Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, health and safety regulations, and infection control standards.
Experience in preparing and maintaining dental equipment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
A patient friendly personality.
Attention to detail.
Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Professional appearance and positive attitude.
