Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in clinical assisting, patient care, and dental procedures, with a focus on delivering exceptional service in a fast-paced environment. As a Dental Assistant, you will support dentists during procedures, manage patient records, and ensure the highest standards of infection control and safety. Duties
Assist dentists during various dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are available.
Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced medical imaging equipment such as 3D scanners and X-ray machines while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Dentrix for accurate documentation of patient information and treatment plans.
Perform chairside assisting with aseptic technique to maintain a sterile environment during procedures.
Monitor vital signs and assist in assessing patient health status prior to treatment.
Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care, and dental terminology to promote ongoing oral hygiene.
Maintain infection control protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA standards to uphold safety within the dental clinic.
Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, acting as a dental receptionist when needed, and managing medical documentation efficiently.
Collaborate with the team on specialized treatments including pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics to deliver comprehensive patient care.
Skills
Proficiency in EMR systems such as Dentrix for managing medical records and documentation.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry.
Experience with medical imaging techniques including X-ray procedures and 3D scanning technology.
Ability to perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques for efficient workflow.
Familiarity with infection control practices, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures within a dental setting.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of patient information at all times.
Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics, and team members.
Understanding of medical coding for billing purposes related to dental procedures.
Prior experience working in general dentistry or specialized fields such as prosthodontics or endodontics is highly desirable.
