Job Description
Job Overview
Join our dental team as an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant, where your enthusiasm and expertise will directly enhance patient care and clinic efficiency. In this vital role, you will support the Dentist by preparing treatment areas, assisting during procedures, and ensuring a smooth flow of operations. Your proactive attitude and attention to detail will help create a welcoming environment for patients of all ages. This position offers the opportunity to develop your skills in a patient-centered practice dedicated to excellence in oral health.
Tuesday through Thursday 8am-5pm
Some Fridays 8am-1pm
1 hour lunch break
Duties
Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials for each procedure.
Break down treatment rooms, maintaining sterilization and infection control protocols (OSHA compliant).
Take digital dental X-rays and assist with intra-oral scanning, impression taking.
Maintain organized operatories and supply inventory.
Manage patient records using Dentrix, documenting medical history, vital signs, and treatment details accurately.
Fabricating temporary/provisional crowns and bridges.
Educate patients on post-treatment care instructions, and preventive practices to foster ongoing oral health.
Experience
3 years experience working in a dental office setting is highly preferred but not required.
Proficiency in dental assisting techniques such as four-handed dentistry and chairside assisting is essential for providing efficient patient care.
Familiarity with Dentrix software for managing medical records and coding procedures accurately (will train if no experience with Dentrix).
Experience operating dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners
Understanding of infection control protocols, sterilization processes, and aseptic techniques critical for maintaining a safe clinical environment.
Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages, ensuring comfort and understanding throughout their visit.
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years experience of Expanded Functions Dental Assistant preferred
Radiography Certification required
CPR Certification required
Strong knowledge of dental procedures and instruments
Familiarity with dental software and computers
Excellent organization and communication skills
Professional, dependable, and team-oriented attitude
