Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Surgical Dental Assistant to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will support complex dental surgeries and procedures, ensuring seamless patient care and maintaining the highest standards of clinical excellence. Your expertise will help deliver outstanding results while adhering to strict infection control protocols and utilizing advanced dental technology.
Responsibilities
Assist the dentist during surgical procedures, including oral surgery, implant placement, and prosthodontics treatments, ensuring all instruments and materials are prepared and sterilized according to infection prevention management standards.
Operate dental equipment such as 3D scanners, X-ray machines, and dental sterilization devices with precision and adherence to aseptic techniques.
Take and develop dental X-rays, including dental X-ray imaging, while maintaining patient safety and comfort through proper positioning and exposure techniques.
Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft and Dentrix, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Monitor vital signs and medical documentation during procedures to ensure patient safety throughout the treatment process.
Provide excellent patient care by explaining procedures clearly, managing patient anxiety, and delivering compassionate support before, during, and after treatments.
Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while processing dental instruments and ensuring sterilization procedures meet infection control standards.
Experience
Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with a focus on surgical procedures in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for efficient patient management.
Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to oral surgery and general dentistry.
Hands-on experience with dental x-ray techniques, sterilization procedures, four-handed dentistry practices, and infection prevention protocols.
Ability to operate advanced dental equipment including 3D scanners and medical imaging devices confidently.
Strong understanding of clinical confidentiality policies, medical documentation standards, and healthcare infection control practices.
Prior experience working within pediatric dentistry or oral surgery settings is a plus.
