Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in clinical assisting, dental terminology, and infection control protocols, with a passion for providing exceptional patient care. As a Dental Assistant, you will support dentists during procedures, manage patient records, and ensure the smooth operation of daily clinic activities. Your expertise in dental technology and patient communication will contribute significantly to delivering high-quality dental services in a professional and welcoming environment.
Duties
Assist dentists during various procedures including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring all instruments and materials are prepared and sterilized according to infection prevention management standards.
Take and develop dental x-rays and medical imaging, maintaining accuracy while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.
Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Epic, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, vital signs, and treatment plans.
Perform dental instrument processing and sterilization procedures in compliance with dental sterilization protocols to maintain aseptic technique.
Provide chairside assistance by managing dental instruments, suctioning, and assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency during procedures.
Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care, and explain dental terminology clearly to ensure understanding.
Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while supporting the overall workflow of the dental clinic, including reception duties as a dental receptionist when needed.
Support infection prevention measures by adhering to healthcare infection control guidelines and maintaining a clean clinical environment.
Requirements
Proven experience in dental assisting within a general dentistry or pediatric dentistry setting is essential.
Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic is required; familiarity with medical coding and documentation is preferred.
Knowledge of dental x-ray techniques, oral surgery procedures, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of infection control practices including aseptic technique and sterilization procedures.
Ability to perform vital signs assessment and operate medical imaging equipment such as 3D scanners when necessary.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex dental terminology clearly to patients of all ages.
Certification in radiography or X-ray certification as mandated by local regulations.
Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention standards and clinical confidentiality policies is mandatory.
