Duties
Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly according to dental sterilization procedures and infection prevention management protocols
Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry by providing chairside support with dental instruments and materials
Take and develop dental x-rays and 3D scans using advanced medical imaging technology while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy
Manage patient records using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Epic, or other patient management software; ensure accuracy in medical documentation and coding
Provide excellent patient care by managing patient flow, explaining procedures, taking vital signs, and addressing patient questions with professionalism and compassion
Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive medical records and ensuring compliance with healthcare infection control standards
Support the dental team with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering phones as a dental receptionist, and managing medical documentation efficiently
Skills
Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry, aseptic technique, and dental instrument processing
Experience with dental x-ray procedures, oral surgery assistance, endodontics, prosthodontics, pediatric dentistry, and general dentistry practices
Familiarity with EMR systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Epic or similar platforms for managing patient records and medical coding
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, medical terminology, and clinical confidentiality policies
Expertise in infection prevention management including sterilization procedures and healthcare infection control practices
Ability to operate dental equipment such as 3D scanners, dental sterilizers, X-ray machines, and other clinical tools effectively
Excellent communication skills to coordinate with patients and team members while maintaining a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment
