Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant and Receptionist to join our team in providing exceptional dental care. The ideal candidate will support our dental professionals in delivering high-quality services to our patients, ensuring a comfortable and efficient experience. This role requires a combination of clinical expertise and excellent interpersonal skills to assist with various dental procedures and maintain a welcoming environment.
Duties
Assist dentists during examinations and procedures, including chairside assisting and four-handed dentistry techniques.
Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up trays, and ensuring all necessary materials are available.
Take digital dental X-rays while adhering to safety protocols and infection control standards.
Maintain accurate medical records, including medical documentation and coding, in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-operative care, and treatment plans.
Manage patient flow within the clinic, ensuring timely appointments and effective communication with the dental receptionist.
Monitor vital signs as necessary during procedures to ensure patient safety.
Assist with pediatric dentistry tasks, providing compassionate care to younger patients.
Utilize EMR systems such as Open Dental for patient management and documentation purposes.
Stay informed about dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and aseptic techniques to enhance patient care.
Skills
Proficiency in using EMR systems (Open Dental) for efficient record keeping.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality.
Experience in pediatric dentistry and understanding of child-specific dental care needs.
Familiarity with X-ray technology and medical imaging processes.
Strong chairside assisting skills with the ability to anticipate the needs of the dentist during procedures.
Understanding of general dentistry practices as well as specialized areas such as prosthodontics and endodontics.
Ability to perform infection control measures effectively within a dental clinic environment.
Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients of all ages, including pediatrics.
