Responsibilities
Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, and prosthodontics.
Prepare treatment rooms with the necessary dental instruments, equipment, and materials while adhering to infection prevention management and aseptic techniques.
Take and develop dental X-rays and 3D scans using advanced medical imaging technology to aid in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
Manage patient records efficiently using patient management software such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Epic, or similar systems while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies.
Provide chairside assistance by handing instruments, suctioning, and supporting the dentist throughout procedures to ensure smooth clinical operations.
Perform dental instrument processing and sterilization procedures to maintain the highest standards of infection control.
Assist with patient care by taking vital signs, explaining procedures clearly, and ensuring patients are comfortable before, during, and after treatment.
Skills
Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix for accurate medical documentation and record-keeping.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures across various specialties including general dentistry and oral surgery.
Experience with dental equipment operation including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, sterilization tools, and dental chairs.
Excellent patient management skills with the ability to communicate effectively about treatment plans and post-care instructions.
Familiarity with healthcare infection prevention protocols and aseptic techniques to uphold safety standards in the clinic.
Ability to perform dental assisting tasks such as four-handed dentistry, endodontics support, prosthodontics assistance, and general dentistry procedures confidently.
Understanding of medical coding related to dental services for accurate documentation within medical records.
