Job Summary

Duties
Assist dentists chairside during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray imaging), ensuring accuracy and patient safety in compliance with infection control protocols.
Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accurate documentation of treatments and medical histories.
Perform vital signs assessment and medical documentation to support comprehensive patient care, especially in pediatric dentistry.
Maintain infection control standards through aseptic technique and proper sterilization procedures to safeguard patient and staff health.
Support front desk operations as a dental receptionist when needed, including scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient inquiries.
Utilize dental terminology effectively to communicate with team members and educate patients about procedures and oral health practices.
Assist with medical imaging procedures using 3D scanners or other advanced technology to enhance diagnostic accuracy.
Uphold HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient privacy and handling medical records with confidentiality at all times.
Support four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency during procedures by working seamlessly alongside the dentist.
Maintain knowledge of anatomy relevant to dental assisting roles to ensure precise support during treatments across various specialties like endodontics or prosthodontics.
Experience
Prior experience working in a dental clinic environment is highly preferred; familiarity with general dentistry practices is essential.
Proficiency in EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft is required for efficient record management.
Knowledge of infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and sterilization processes is necessary to ensure safety standards are met consistently.
Experience with X-ray procedures, including digital imaging and 3D scanning technologies, is advantageous.
Understanding of dental terminology, medical coding, and medical documentation practices will support accurate record keeping and billing processes.
