Job Description
Greeting patients in a friendly and courteous manner
Prepares treatment room, patient, instruments and materials under the direct supervision of a licensed dentist.
Performs chairside assistance for and under direct supervision of a qualified dental care provider.
Performs procedures in compliance with prescribed protocols under the direct supervision of a dentist.
Takes the necessary radiographs as directed by the provider.
Passes instruments and materials.
Takes preliminary medical and dental history and vitals to be reviewed by the dentist before every procedure.
Fabricates dental models when needed. Aids in completion of laboratory paperwork.
Completes appropriate sterilization of equipment and treatment room following all prescribed protocols.
Records and reports pertinent observations and patient reactions to dentist and dental staff, as appropriate.
Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
Maintains patients’ dental records, including but not limited to, charts and documents treatment plans during exams.
Assists with answering phones and scheduling patient appointments.
Maintains current credentialing.
Obtains informed consent for procedures, when indicated.
Completes paperwork in a timely manner.
Completes appropriate and timely charting.
Participates in quality assurance activities.
Completes all required training in a timely manner.
Attends required meetings.
Registered Dental Assistants:
Places and removes rubber dams, matrix bands, ligature ties and temporary separating devices.
Selects and pre-fits temporary crowns.
Takes impressions for study casts, diagnostic casts, space maintainers and occlusal guards.
Removes stitches placed by a dentist.
Applies topical cavity-preventing and desensitizing agents to the teeth.
Educates patients on oral healthcare.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED
Completion of course of study in dental assisting from an accredited institution preferred
Certification preferred
Previous experience in a dental practice preferred

UPC is seeking a full time Dental Assistant to join our growing team in our Bradford Dental Clinic. UPC offers family medicine including pediatrics and women's health care to our patients.
This position supports delivery of quality dental care by preparing treatment room, patient, instruments, and materials; passing instruments and materials; performing procedures in compliance with prescribed protocols under the direct supervision of a dentist.
