Job Description
Dr. Gabrielle Seifert, DMD, is looking for an entry to mid-level chairside dental assistant to join her veteran staff. We are a 100% independently owned and operated, single doctor practice serving Norton and the surrounding area. We pride ourselves in providing our patients a comfortable experience and exceptional care. Compensation and benefits
The starting pay range for this role is $18.75 to $24.00 per hour[1] and is available in a part-time or full-time non-exempt capacity.
This range is starting-only and is based on the candidate's qualifications at hire. Successful candidates can expect their compensation to grow beyond this range as their skills and experience increase.
Paid time off
Employees start with 1 week of paid sick/personal time and a minimum of 1 week of paid vacation (based on hours worked per week) with the opportunity to earn up to 5 weeks at 10 years of service.
401(k) and profit sharing
All employees are eligible to join our 401(k) and profit sharing plan at age 21 and with 30 days of service. The company offers a 100% match at up to 3% of an employee's wages, and a 50% match for the next 2%.
Group health insurance
Full-time employees (25+ hours) are additionally eligible for group health insurance offered through the Ohio Dental Association Wellness Trust with $600 of monthly premiums/HSA contributions paid by the company.
About the role
The Dental Assistant, Chairside role supports the dentist and clinical team by assisting with patient care, maintaining operatories, sterilizing equipment, managing patient records, monitoring supply usage, and performing other general tasks as needed to support the office’s performance.
Responsibilities
Patient management
Prepare operatories for their next appointment
Seat patients after they check in and notify the dentist when ready
Review accuracy of the patient’s medical history
Anticipate and act on the dentist’s needs as they perform procedures
Perform radiography, N2O-O2 monitoring (training provided), and other practices as permitted under Ohio law
Explain instructions to patients as necessary and ensure questions are answered thoroughly
Post rendered services to the patient’s account and schedule recare
Escort the patient to the checkout after their procedure
Operatory maintenance
Maintain cleanliness of operatories in accordance with OSHA regulations
Keep dental units ready, stocked, and clean
Keep trays, instruments, and drawers organized as directed by the dentist and hygienists
Sterilize all instruments and handpieces according to OSHA regulations
Prepare dental lab cases and monitor their status
Perform preventative maintenance and cleaning tasks as scheduled
Administrative duties
Be familiar with the practice’s PMS system, SoftDent
Handle patient records in compliance with HIPAA and other regulations
Ensure accurate treatment notes are recorded in the patient’s chart
Monitor supply levels and notify the office manager when replenishments are needed
Maintain emergency kits and nitrous tanks
Other duties
Help with other office duties when able and as needed such as front desk work or assisting the rest of the clinical staff with cleaning, radiography, or sterilization
Participate in office meetings and team events as reasonably expected
Be generally knowledgeable of dental terminology, anatomy, and coding
Requirements
Education and experience
Completion of a 2-year associate’s degree program with a focus in dental assisting or a certificate program from a dental assisting school
--OR--
1 year of prior experience as a chairside dental assistant in a dental practice
Certifications and licensing
Hold, or be capable of obtaining within 1 month of hire, a current radiographer license from the Ohio State Dental Board
Completion of, or the capability to complete within 3 months of hire, a six-hour course in N2O-O2 minimal sedation monitoring
