Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. As a Dental Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring smooth workflow within the dental practice, assisting with procedures, managing patient records, and maintaining a sterile environment. Responsibilities
Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize dental instruments in accordance with infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including restorative, endodontic, prosthodontic, and pediatric dentistry treatments.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray) and operate advanced medical imaging equipment such as 3D scanners.
Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Provide chairside assistance by handing instruments, suctioning, and monitoring vital signs during procedures.
Educate patients on oral health care, post-treatment instructions, and preventive practices tailored for pediatric dentistry when applicable.
Support administrative tasks including scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist, verifying insurance information, and maintaining medical documentation.
Maintain knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical coding to accurately document procedures and assist with billing processes.
Skills
Proficiency in EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation.
Experience with dental radiography techniques including X-ray imaging and 3D scanning technology.
Strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures within a dental clinic environment.
Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and various specialties including endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently in general dentistry settings while supporting four-handed dentistry techniques.
Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
Excellent communication skills for interacting effectively with patients of all ages, particularly pediatrics when necessary.
