Overview

Duties
Assist dentists chairside during a variety of procedures including restorations, extractions, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry treatments.
Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, materials, and supplies, ensuring aseptic techniques are strictly followed.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray), ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are maintained for patients and staff.
Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Epic, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, treatment plans, and medical coding.
Perform vital signs assessments and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures to support overall patient care.
Support infection control protocols by sterilizing instruments, maintaining cleanliness standards, and adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.
Collaborate with the dental reception team to schedule appointments, verify insurance information, and assist with administrative tasks as needed.
Utilize advanced technology such as 3D scanners for prosthodontic or implant procedures while maintaining proficiency in dental terminology and anatomy knowledge.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with familiarity in general dentistry practices; experience in pediatric dentistry or specialty fields is a plus.
Proficiency with dental software systems including Eaglesoft for scheduling, documentation, and medical records management.
Knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures to ensure a safe clinical environment.
Ability to perform dental assisting duties such as chairside assisting, taking X-rays, and supporting four-handed dentistry techniques.
Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to dental care.
Certification in X-ray technology is required; additional certifications in medical coding or pediatrics are advantageous.
Excellent communication skills to serve as a dental receptionist when needed and provide compassionate patient care.
