Responsibilities
Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and supplies according to infection prevention management protocols.
Assist dentists during various procedures including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry with precision and care.
Take and develop dental x-rays, including 3D scans, ensuring proper technique and patient comfort while adhering to HIPAA regulations for clinical confidentiality policies.
Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care, and explain dental terminology clearly to promote understanding and compliance.
Monitor vital signs and assist with medical imaging procedures to support comprehensive patient care.
Maintain dental equipment functionality through routine inspection, sterilization procedures, and aseptic technique adherence to ensure safety standards are met.
Skills
Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry practices.
Experience with dental x-ray procedures and the operation of dental equipment such as intraoral cameras, 3D scanners, and medical imaging tools.
Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and clinical confidentiality policies essential for effective communication and compliance.
Familiarity with EMR systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for accurate documentation of medical records and coding.
Strong understanding of infection prevention management including sterilization procedures and healthcare infection control expertise.
Ability to manage patient flow efficiently as a dental receptionist when needed while demonstrating excellent patient management skills.
Awareness of pediatric dentistry principles and the specific needs of pediatric patients to ensure compassionate care.
