Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Dental Assistant with Expanded Functions Dental Auxiliary (EFDA) certification to join our dynamic dental team. In this vital role, you will provide exceptional patient care by assisting the dentist during various procedures, managing clinical operations, and ensuring a smooth workflow in a fast-paced dental surgery environment. Responsibilities
Assist the dentist during clinical procedures including extractions, implant placement and prosthodontic work with precision and confidence.
Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments, setting up necessary equipment, and ensuring all materials are ready for patient care.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray), ensuring adherence to infection prevention management and aseptic techniques.
Manage patient records using Dentrix ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA policies.
Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
Conduct vital signs assessments and medical imaging as needed to support comprehensive patient care.
Maintain strict infection control standards by following dental sterilization procedures and infection prevention policies.
Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care, and answer questions related to dental terminology and procedures.
Support administrative tasks such as patient management software updates, appointment scheduling, and coordinating with the dental receptionist team.
Requirements
Valid EFDA certification with proven experience in general dentistry; additional expertise in oral surgery is highly desirable.
Proficiency in EMR systems including Dentrix; familiarity with patient management software is a plus.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, dental equipment operation, and medical documentation standards.
Experience with dental x-ray techniques and proficiency in dental instrument processing and sterilization procedures.
Ability to perform clinical duties such as taking vital signs, medical imaging, and supporting infection control protocols effectively.
Excellent communication skills to interact professionally with patients of all ages, including pediatrics when applicable.
Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control practices along with aseptic technique adherence.
Familiarity with medical coding for billing purposes is advantageous but not required.
