Responsibilities
Assist dentists during endodontic procedures by preparing and passing dental instruments and materials efficiently.
Manage patient flow by greeting patients, updating medical records, and ensuring their comfort throughout visits.
Operate and maintain dental equipment, including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and other advanced imaging tools, adhering to infection prevention protocols.
Prepare treatment rooms with sterilized instruments and ensure all clinical areas meet strict aseptic techniques.
Capture high-quality dental X-rays and medical imaging while following HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy.
Utilize patient management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix to document procedures accurately and update medical records in real-time.
Support the dental team with vital signs monitoring, medical documentation, and ensuring compliance with clinical confidentiality policies.
Participate in infection control practices aligned with healthcare infection prevention standards, including dental sterilization procedures.
Assist with oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry cases as needed with four-handed dentistry techniques.
Maintain a thorough understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and dental assisting best practices to enhance patient care quality.
Qualifications
Previous experience in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred, especially in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments.
Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is essential for efficient patient data management.
Strong knowledge of dental x-ray procedures, infection control protocols, and sterilization techniques is required.
Familiarity with medical terminology, medical coding, and electronic health records (EHR) systems like Epic is advantageous.
Excellent communication skills combined with a compassionate approach to patient care are vital for success in this role.
