Job Description

Overview
Join our dynamic dental team as a Periodontal Assistant/Front Desk! This exciting dual role combines front office admin responsibilities with clinical support, ensuring our patients receive exceptional care and a seamless experience from check-in to treatment. You’ll be one of the friendly faces greeting patients, managing appointments, and supporting our dental professionals while also chairside assisting during periodontal procedures and helping in sterilization. Duties
Greet patients warmly, verify insurance information, and manage patient check-in/check-out using patient management software such as Dentrix and/ Dental intelligence
Checking in / Checking out patients and collecting payments
Schedule appointments efficiently while coordinating with clinical staff to optimize daily workflow
Insurance eligibility and verification
Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments following infection prevention management and aseptic techniques
Assist the periodontal dentist during procedures by handing instruments, managing suction, and ensuring patient comfort through chairside assisting and four-handed dentistry techniques
Take dental x-rays and CBCT scans, ensuring adherence to HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies
Manage medical documentation, including updating medical records with vital signs, medical imaging results, and dental terminology accurately in EMR systems
Educate patients on oral health care, post-treatment instructions, and preventive measures aligned with general dentistry and periodontal health standards
Proven experience in dental assisting with knowledge of dental equipment, sterilization procedures, and infection control protocols
Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Dental Intelligence experience with patient management software is highly desirable
Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, oral surgery procedures, periodontics, endodontics and prosthodontics is a plus
Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely while maintaining clinical confidentiality policies and infection prevention standards
Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, team members, and healthcare professionals
Knowledge of medical documentation practices including recording vital signs and managing medical records accurately
Certification in dental assisting or related fields preferred; additional certifications in medical imaging or infection control are advantageous
