Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will support the clinical team by providing exceptional patient care, assisting with procedures, and ensuring smooth daily operations. This role offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, utilizing advanced dental technology and maintaining high standards of infection control and patient confidentiality. Prior experience with electronic medical records and a strong understanding of dental terminology are highly valued.
Duties
Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize dental instruments following aseptic techniques
Assist dentists during various procedures including general dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry
Take and develop dental X-rays, ensuring proper technique and patient safety
Record vital signs and medical history, updating medical documentation accurately in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic
Manage patient flow as a dental receptionist when needed, including scheduling appointments and verifying insurance information
Educate patients on oral health care and post-treatment instructions
Maintain infection control standards and ensure all equipment is properly sanitized
Assist with 3D scanning and other advanced imaging procedures as required
Support the dental team with administrative tasks related to medical records and coding
Skills
Proficiency in EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic; experience with medical coding is a plus
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality
Experience with chairside assisting, four-handed dentistry, and medical imaging techniques
Familiarity with dental terminology across various specialties including pediatric dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, and general dentistry
Ability to take accurate X-rays and perform vital signs assessment
Strong understanding of infection control protocols and aseptic techniques
Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients and team members
Ability to adapt quickly to new technology such as 3D scanners and advanced imaging tools
Knowledge of anatomy relevant to dental procedures and medical documentation standards
