Job Description
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in dental assisting, with expertise in chairside support, patient care, and administrative tasks. As a Dental Assistant, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality dental services, ensuring patient comfort, and maintaining efficient clinic operations. Your proficiency with electronic medical records systems and knowledge of various dental specialties will contribute to the seamless functioning of our practice.
Duties
Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary equipment, and ensuring an aseptic environment in accordance with infection control protocols.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray), including 3D scans when applicable, while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
Manage patient records using EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, treatment plans, and medical coding.
Monitor vital signs and medical documentation to support comprehensive patient assessments.
Provide patient education on oral health practices and post-treatment care instructions.
Support front desk operations by assisting with dental receptionist duties, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow efficiently.
Maintain knowledge of dental terminology and anatomy to facilitate effective communication within the team.
Uphold infection control standards through proper sterilization techniques and aseptic procedures.
Collaborate with the team in four-handed dentistry to enhance efficiency during procedures and improve patient experience.
Utilize medical imaging technology and operate equipment such as the 3D scanner for advanced diagnostics when necessary.
Experience
Prior experience working in a dental clinic environment is essential, with familiarity in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry preferred.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards is mandatory to ensure compliance and confidentiality.
Demonstrated ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while maintaining safety standards for patients and staff.
Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques.
Experience supporting various specialties including prosthodontics and endodontics enhances your versatility as a team member.
Certification in dental assisting or relevant training programs is highly desirable; ongoing professional development is encouraged to stay current with industry best practices.
