Duties
Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including restorative, prosthodontics, orthodontics, oral surgery, endodontics, and periodontics treatments
Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly
Take and record vital signs such as blood pressure and pulse to assist in patient assessment and medical documentation
Manage patient flow by greeting patients, updating medical records in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, and scheduling appointments
Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions using clear communication
Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality and privacy
Support administrative tasks including medical coding, billing documentation, and managing dental office records
Requirements
Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with knowledge of general dentistry procedures and dental terminology
Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for accurate medical documentation and record keeping
Experience assisting with specialized treatments including prosthodontics, orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, and periodontics is highly preferred
Strong understanding of HIPAA compliance and medical coding standards to ensure legal and ethical practice
Excellent communication skills for patient assessment and providing clear instructions
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
Certification in dental assisting or relevant training from an accredited program is required; additional certifications in medical terminology or CPR are a plus
