Responsibilities
Assist dentists during clinical procedures by preparing and handing over instruments and materials efficiently.
Take and develop dental X-rays, ensuring proper technique and patient comfort while adhering to safety protocols.
Support infection control practices by maintaining aseptic techniques and sterilizing tools according to industry standards.
Perform chairside assisting duties including taking vital signs, explaining procedures to patients, and providing post-treatment instructions.
Operate dental imaging equipment like 3D scanners and medical imaging devices to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning.
Coordinate with the dental receptionist to schedule appointments, update medical documentation, and manage patient flow efficiently.
Apply knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and various specialties such as prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry to support comprehensive care.
Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment, ensuring all tools are sterilized and supplies are stocked for daily operations.
Support general dentistry procedures by assisting with cavity fillings, crown preparations, root canals, and other treatments requiring four-handed dentistry techniques.
Qualifications
Previous experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred; familiarity with dental assisting tasks is essential.
Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety.
Knowledge of dental X-ray procedures, medical imaging technology including 3D scanners, and vital signs monitoring.
Excellent communication skills to explain procedures clearly and provide compassionate patient care—especially in pediatric dentistry environments.
Ability to perform chairside assisting confidently while demonstrating thorough knowledge of dental terminology and anatomy.
Certification in radiography or X-ray technology required; additional certifications in pediatric dentistry or endodontics are advantageous.
