Responsibilities
Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and equipment in accordance with infection prevention management and dental sterilization procedures.
Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry with four-handed dentistry techniques.
Take and develop dental x-rays, including dental x-ray procedures and medical imaging, ensuring accurate positioning and patient safety.
Manage patient records using advanced patient management software such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies.
Collect vital signs and medical history information to support comprehensive patient care while adhering to healthcare infection prevention and control policies.
Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care, and dental terminology to promote ongoing oral hygiene.
Support the dental team with administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, managing medical documentation, and coordinating with the dental receptionist for smooth clinic operations.
Skills
Proficiency in EMR systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for accurate documentation and record keeping.
Strong knowledge of dental equipment including 3D scanners, dental sterilization tools, and medical imaging devices.
Expertise in dental instrument processing, aseptic technique, and infection control protocols to ensure safety for patients and staff.
Experience with chairside assisting across general dentistry procedures as well as specialized fields such as oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatrics.
Familiarity with dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical coding to facilitate precise communication and documentation.
Ability to manage patient flow efficiently while demonstrating excellent patient care skills in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention standards and clinical confidentiality policies to uphold the highest levels of professionalism.
