The job and environment:

Our newly acquired dental office is in an exciting phase of transformation, and we are seeking to add a dynamic and compassionate Dental Assistant I & Receptionist to our team. You will split your time between the front office and patient care, mastering both sets of skills.

Our Dental Assistant I & Receptionist position is critical to ensuring we meet our goal of delivering an exceptional experience to patients before they even enter our office all the way through to their post-procedure check out. You will be the first point of contact, greeting patients with warmth and professionalism, while also assisting the dental team with clinical procedures, patient records, and administrative tasks. Your positivity, proactivity, and careful attention to detail will help create a welcoming environment where patients feel valued and cared for every step of their dental journey.
Your core responsibilities:
Welcome patients warmly, verify insurance coverage, and handle patient intake efficiently using an EHR (Electronic Health Record) system.
Schedule appointments, manage multi-line phone systems, and coordinate patient flow to optimize clinic operations.
Assist dentist during procedures, prepare instruments, take digital X-rays, and maintain sterilization protocols in compliance with OSHA regulations.
Verify insurance benefits, perform insurance verification, and explain treatment plans clearly to patients.
Manage billing processes and documentation review for accurate claims submission.
Maintain accurate dental records and ensure proper filing of records while adhering to health information management standards and following HIPPA regulations.
Provide exceptional patient service by answering inquiries professionally, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette, and ensuring a positive clinic experience.
Support office management tasks such as filing, data entry, and updating patient information.
Assist in medical collection efforts when necessary and ensure compliance with all HIPAA guidelines for confidentiality.
Desire to work with technology including CEREC (same day crowns).
Your experience should include at least some of the following*:
Certified Dental Assistant is a major plus
X-ray certified
CPR certified
Prior clinic experience in a dental or medical office setting is highly preferred; candidates with prior experience in hospitality or customer service-oriented roles are also encouraged to apply.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology and procedures.
Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on patient care and comfort.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks efficiently.
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
Must be a team player and willing to help in all areas of the office.
Reliability is critical
Excellent communication skills with a friendly demeanor and ability to work well as part of a team, as well as professional phone and email etiquette.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong attention to detail.
Experience with dental terminology and/or medical terminology, or the willingness and ability to learn quickly.
Ability to perform basic dental coding and documentation tasks related to patient care.
Demonstrated proficiency with database management, particularly EHR systems such as Dentrix
Knowledge of insurance verification procedures.
Previous office management or administrative experience (particularly in a healthcare setting) is highly preferred.
