Job Summary

Duties
Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and equipment according to infection prevention management and aseptic techniques.
Assist dentists chairside during a variety of procedures including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and general dentistry treatments.
Take and develop dental X-rays using dental x-ray equipment, ensuring proper safety protocols are followed for patient and staff protection.
Manage patient records accurately within electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Collect vital signs and medical history information from patients to support comprehensive care planning.
Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care, and explain dental terminology clearly to enhance patient understanding.
Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while handling sensitive medical documentation and medical coding processes efficiently.
Experience
Previous experience working in a dental clinic setting with exposure to pediatric dentistry is highly preferred.
Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including four-handed dentistry, dental instrument processing, and dental sterilization procedures.
Familiarity with dental equipment such as 3D scanners, dental chairs, and medical imaging devices is advantageous.
Knowledge of healthcare infection prevention and control standards, including infection control protocols and aseptic technique.
Experience using patient management software like Epic or similar platforms for scheduling, documentation, and billing is desirable.
Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge related to oral structures, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry.
Ability to perform dental x-ray procedures accurately while maintaining safety standards for patients and staff.
