Job Description
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will support dental practitioners in providing exceptional patient care, ensuring smooth clinic operations, and maintaining the highest standards of infection control and patient safety. This role offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment specializing in general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics. The Dental Assistant will utilize their expertise in dental procedures, medical documentation, and advanced imaging technologies to enhance patient outcomes and clinic efficiency.
Responsibilities
Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and supplies, ensuring aseptic technique and infection control protocols are strictly followed.
Assist dentists during various procedures including chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques.
Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans, while adhering to HIPAA regulations and safety standards.
Record vital signs and medical history, update medical records accurately using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic.
Manage patient flow by greeting patients as a dental receptionist, scheduling appointments, and confirming upcoming visits.
Provide patient education on oral health care, post-operative instructions, and explain procedures using appropriate dental terminology.
Maintain dental equipment functionality, including sterilization of tools and proper handling of medical imaging devices.
Assist with administrative tasks such as coding procedures for insurance claims and managing medical documentation related to pediatrics or specialized treatments like prosthodontics or endodontics.
Experience
Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is preferred, especially with general dentistry or surgical dentistry practices.
You will be working with a periodontist and will need to assist for surgeries
Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft is highly desirable.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques is essential.
Experience with X-ray procedures, 3D scanners, and vital signs measurement is advantageous.
Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge related to oral structures, and medical coding practices enhances effectiveness in this role.
Previous roles involving chairside assisting or dental assisting certifications are beneficial but not mandatory for highly motivated candidates eager to learn.
