Job Description
Job Overview
Dental Assistant needed with a minimum of 2 years experience, bilingual (Spanish/English), with computer skills
Duties
Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including restorative, endodontic, and surgical treatments.
Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly in accordance with aseptic techniques.
Take digital dental X-ray, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed to protect patients from radiation exposure.
Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Dentrix, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Provide chairside assistance by handling dental instruments, suctioning, and maintaining a clear field during procedures.
Monitor vital signs and observe patient reactions to ensure comfort and safety throughout treatment sessions.
Support administrative tasks, including scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist and managing medical documentation or records efficiently.
Maintain infection control standards through proper sterilization techniques and adherence to health guidelines within the dental clinic environment.
Assist with medical imaging procedures utilizing 3D scanners or other diagnostic tools when necessary for comprehensive patient assessment.
Collaborate with the dental team to ensure seamless workflow in general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, or other specialties.
Qualifications
Proven experience working as a Dental Assistant minimal 2 years.
Certification in dental assisting and an X-ray license
Proficiency systems such as Dentrix.
Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations related to medical records and patient privacy.
Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques essential for safe practice.
Ability to operate radiographic equipment for X-ray procedures while maintaining safety standards for patients and staff.
Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
