Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in clinical assisting, patient care, and dental procedures, with a focus on delivering exceptional service in a fast-paced environment. As a Dental Assistant, you will support dentists during various procedures, manage patient records, and ensure the highest standards of infection control and clinical confidentiality. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to comprehensive dental care while fostering a welcoming atmosphere for patients of all ages.
Responsibilities
Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and other specialty treatments.
Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning correctly in accordance with infection prevention management protocols.
Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray) using digital imaging systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
Manage patient records accurately within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems like Epic or Dentrix, maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
Perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort during procedures.
Monitor vital signs and assist in medical documentation when necessary for patients requiring sedation or special care.
Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment by following dental sterilization procedures and aseptic techniques aligned with infection control standards.
Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing medical coding, and coordinating with the dental reception team to ensure smooth clinic operations.
Skills
Proficiency in EMR systems including Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic for managing patient information and medical records.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and clinical procedures across various specialties including pediatric dentistry and oral surgery.
Experience with dental x-ray techniques and proficiency in operating 3D scanners for advanced diagnostics.
Expertise in dental instrument processing, sterilization procedures, and infection prevention management to uphold safety standards.
Skilled in chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry practices to improve workflow efficiency.
Familiarity with healthcare infection control policies and aseptic techniques essential for maintaining clinical confidentiality policies.
Ability to communicate effectively with patients of diverse backgrounds while demonstrating professionalism and empathy.
