Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented EXPERIENCED Dental Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in dental assisting procedures, patient care, and clinical support, with a focus on delivering exceptional service in a fast-paced dental environment. As a Dental Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting dentists during procedures, managing patient records, and ensuring the highest standards of infection control and clinical confidentiality. Your expertise will contribute to creating a welcoming atmosphere where patients feel comfortable and cared for while maintaining compliance with all healthcare regulations.
Duties
Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing and organizing dental instruments and equipment according to infection prevention management protocols.
Assist dentists during various procedures including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring smooth workflow through chairside assisting.
Take and develop dental X-rays and 3D scans while adhering to dental x-ray safety standards and radiation protection guidelines.
Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, treatment plans, and medical coding.
Provide patient care by taking vital signs, explaining procedures, and addressing patient questions with professionalism and empathy.
Maintain dental equipment functionality through routine inspection, cleaning, and sterilization procedures following dental sterilization protocols.
Uphold clinical confidentiality policies in accordance with HIPAA regulations while managing sensitive medical documentation.
Ensure compliance with healthcare infection prevention and control standards through aseptic technique and proper instrument processing.
Collaborate with the team to implement four-handed dentistry techniques that improve efficiency during clinical procedures.
Experience
Proven experience working as a Dental Assistant within a general dentistry or specialty practice such as pediatric dentistry or oral surgery.
Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, dental equipment operation, and medical imaging techniques including X-ray and 3D scanner use.
Hands-on experience with dental sterilization procedures, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety.
Ability to perform chairside assisting in various dental disciplines including endodontics, prosthodontics, oral surgery, and pediatrics.
Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages while providing education on oral health care practices.
Prior experience supporting pediatric dentistry is advantageous for serving young patients effectively.
