Dental Assistant or Registered Dental assistant

We are a growing pediatric and general dental practice in Huntington Beach. We take pride in offering quality dentistry in a friendly, positive atmosphere. We are looking for an honest, enthusiastic, and skilled Dental Assistant who loves providing excellent dental care to our wonderful patients. We are looking for someone who is very patient with children and comfortable seeing patients with special needs.

Responsibilities
Perform functions in accordance with the applicable state’s Dental Auxiliaries Table of Permitted Duties
Attend to the patient and parents' individual concerns and expectations
Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment; clean each operatory in accordance with the state applicable infection control guidelines
Prepare patients for treatment and assist the dentist - complete radiographs and intra-oral pictures of patients in an efficient and timely manner, record patient charting and all of the dentist’s notes in the digital patient chart as directed by the dentist
Take and understand basic pediatric vital signs
Instruct patients on postoperative and general oral health care as directed by the dentist
Ensure equipment is maintained according to manufacturer’s guidelines
Maintain strict compliance with State, Federal, and other regulations, (e.g., OSHA, WC, Dental Board, HIPAA, ADA, DOL, HR policies and practices)
Current basic life support (CPR) certification.

Equivalent to high school diploma or general education degree (GED), and specified training courses as mandated by state for certification, licensure, or registration
Certifications/licenses/registrations as mandated by applicable state (e.g. coronal polish, radiograph exposure)
Assist front office with duties as available - answer phones, confirm appointments etc.

Qualifications

- Proficiency in Dentrix software preferred

- Knowledge of dental assisting techniques and procedures

- Understanding of dental anatomy and terminology

- Experience in general dentistry practices is a plus

- Previous experience in a dental clinic setting is a plus

*Knowledge of dental insurance and dental coding is a plus
