Job Description
IMPORTANT: This position requires travel between our Kissimmee and Altamonte office locations. Applicants must be able to reliably work at both locations as needed.
We are seeking a dependable, motivated Dental Assistant to join our oral surgery team. Oral surgery experience is preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate who has a strong work ethic, excellent patient care skills, and a willingness to learn.
This is a hands-on clinical position; however, our team works together to support the needs of the practice. Some front-office and administrative responsibilities may be required as needed.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent.
Dental assisting experience preferred.
Oral surgery experience preferred, but not required.
Willingness and ability to learn oral surgery procedures, protocols, and terminology.
Dental assisting certification/credentials as required for duties performed.
Bilingual preferred.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the oral surgeon during consultations, surgical procedures, and post-operative care.
Prepare treatment rooms and surgical operatories for procedures.
Set up instruments, equipment, and surgical materials according to office protocols.
Assist with extractions, implant procedures, bone grafting, biopsies, and other oral surgery procedures.
Take and process dental radiographs as permitted by training and credentials.
Review patient charts and medical histories prior to treatment.
Obtain and document patient information and vital signs as appropriate.
Provide patients with pre-operative and post-operative instructions.
Help patients feel comfortable and informed before, during, and after treatment.
Follow infection-control, sterilization, and OSHA protocols.
Clean, sterilize, and properly maintain instruments and equipment.
Maintain appropriate inventory of clinical and surgical supplies.
Accurately document clinical information in the patient's chart.
Communicate effectively with doctors, clinical team members, front-office staff, patients, and referring offices.
Assist with room turnover and maintaining an organized and efficient clinical environment.
Support the front office when needed, which may include answering phones, scheduling appointments, communicating with patients, collecting or entering patient information, and assisting with other administrative responsibilities.
Perform additional clinical or administrative duties as needed to support the practice.

Ability to take direction and work effectively as part of a team.

Comfortable working in a surgical environment.
Willingness to assist with both clinical and front-office responsibilities based on the needs of the practice.
