Duties
Assist dentists chairside during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment following strict infection prevention management protocols.
Take and develop dental X-rays and 3D scans, ensuring accurate imaging for diagnosis and treatment planning.
Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Support patient care by taking vital signs, reviewing medical histories, and providing clear instructions on post-treatment care.
Maintain clinical cleanliness by adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control policies aligned with healthcare infection prevention standards.
Coordinate patient management software to schedule appointments, update medical documentation, and facilitate smooth patient flow within the clinic.
Requirements
Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic environment with knowledge of dental terminology and procedures.
Proficiency in dental software such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation.
Strong understanding of dental equipment operation including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and sterilization devices.
Knowledge of infection control practices, dental sterilization procedures, and aseptic techniques to ensure safety for patients and staff.
Ability to perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques across various specialties like oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
Familiarity with healthcare regulations including HIPAA compliance and clinical confidentiality policies.
Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages while demonstrating professionalism and empathy.
Certification in radiography (dental x-ray) is preferred; additional certifications in medical coding or pediatric dentistry are a plus.
