Overview

Duties
Assist dentists during various procedures including general dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry with precision and professionalism.
Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing dental instruments, setting up necessary equipment, and ensuring all tools meet infection prevention standards.
Take and develop dental x-rays and 3D scans while adhering to radiation safety protocols and maintaining accurate medical documentation.
Manage patient flow by greeting patients, updating medical records, taking vital signs, and ensuring patient comfort throughout their visit.
Operate electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix to document treatment details accurately while maintaining strict clinical confidentiality policies.
Support the dental team with chairside assisting using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency during procedures.
Maintain dental equipment including sterilization procedures, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques to uphold the highest standards of hygiene.
Collaborate with the dental receptionist to schedule appointments, manage patient management software, and ensure seamless communication within the clinic.
Skills
Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, dental instrument processing, and dental sterilization procedures.
Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and clinical procedures across various specialties such as endodontics and prosthodontics.
Experience with EMR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with patient management software is highly desirable.
Expertise in healthcare infection prevention and control practices including aseptic technique and infection prevention management.
Ability to operate dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, dental x-ray units, and other clinical devices safely and effectively.
Excellent communication skills to support patient care, explain procedures clearly, and coordinate with team members effectively.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure the confidentiality of all medical records and sensitive information.
